How to light a relfective object

The first problem many people will encounter while trying to light a reflectvie object is how the light wraps around any given subject differently. The first thing to do is figure out where the light lands and how it wraps and reflects back into the lens. There are a few ways to do this. The first way is to create a light tent and use a piece of black card to see where the reflections land and where any given light source will need to be positioned. The second way is to use an LED light pack and slowly move around the subject allowing the light to fall from different angles while developing a better understanding of your subject. After this has been achieved you need to decide how you want to light your subject. This will come down to brand research as well as personal preference. Due to the nature of reflective materials there will always been some form of unwanted reflection such as from the camera itself or the photographer. Instead of fighting to remove these reflections with light use a pieces of white background on a roll and cut through where the lens is, this will remove most unwanted reflections. First place two strip boxes behind the product either side to give the prodcut a crisp white outline. Next use a strip boxes and rotate it length ways and place it infront of the product at a height facing down. After the lighting is sorted you can use dulling spray and a water-gylcerin mixure to give the can the appearance of being cold.
